Getting Home Again |
|
It's hard
to find a photo to put on this page - since
we got back home again, we have taken hardly
any! And while the weather has had its
springtime ups and downs - and I've been
able to wear shorts sometimes - in general
it's been quite cold.
This means that we've not been tempted to go
away on even a little trip in the "White
House" again, despite its comfort and its
diesel heater. Perhaps not being tempted has
been good, because our normal weekly
schedule has resumed; despite being retired,
we have quite a lot on which limits our
goings-away to mostly weekends and a not a
lot more.

Mondays
- Alison goes to the Hub Community Garden in
the morning, while I have a longish bike
ride - 25 or 30km, usually. We both go to do
furniture restoration at the op shop in the
afternoons, and once a month Alison has book
club here in Castlemaine in the evening.
Tuesdays - Alison goes to her gym class, I
go to the U3A Spanish class - of which I am
the convenor. Afternoons are "free". Then I
go to Corker Orchestra rehearsal in the
evenings (at present I am the solo violin -
but there are 5 cellos!) and once a months
Alison goes to Melbourne book club.
Wednesdays - variable; at present I'm going
to a U3A class on the "Little Ice Age". Well
presented and fascinating. Then we go down
to Melbourne for Alison's Women's Circus
session in the evenings. Before returning on
Thursday there has to be a visit to Alison's
95 year old mother fitted in; while she's
not too far away, the traffic in Melbourne
doesn't always make it simple.
Thursday - back home to Castlemaine. In the
evening, I have book club once a month and
we both go to the Chewton Film Society
screening once a month.
Friday - sometimes a U3A film screening in
the morning, then Alison goes to Castlemaine
Circus training in the afternoon.
But then, the weekends are usually less
occupied.

But
trips are not yet over for the year - next
week we go to New Zealand for 2½ weeks.
Booked nearly a year ago, using up the
points we'd accrued from our trip to
Scotland last year; what we'd do there was a
blank sheet until a month ago, when we
realised that the trip was no longer away in
the far future. So we are going north of
Auckland, where we've never managed to get
to before. |
