It
has been a little while since I posted the
last web page. Among the reasons for this,
the main one is that I broke the touchscreen of the little
computer it is written on; caused by a fall,
but not anything I considered major. But....
it was broken.
So I enquired of phone repair shops
about having it fixed. Not so easy. In the
end I had to turn to YouTube, where
replacing it looked... not overly difficult.
So I bought a new screen and - off I went.
All worked well till near the end, when I
realised I'd missed a step out, removed the
new screen, and broke it as well!
I was not happy.
But with another new
screen, and the expertise I'd gained the
previous time, all went well and the
computer works again. I hope never to have
to do it again, but if I do... now I know
how to! |
While
this was going on, our elder daughter Alice
was getting more and more pregnant. So much
so that three weeks ago her waters broke, at
38 weeks, and the next day (after some
grouchiness, an epidural, and then a
Caesarian) she had a fine baby daughter
called Rose.
She and her partner Sidharth have
since had an interesting time getting to
know what to do with a little baby. Alice
had had problems with her milk supply, but
everything is improving. Sidharth usually
sends a long text every evening about how
the day has gone, and this has made me
realise that he is wasted in the IT business
and should be a writer. (Though he does
make an income from IT, which he may not as
a writer.)
In last night's text, he tells us that
Alice is looking to wean herself off from
the lactation consultant,
and that their cat has taken to weeing in
places he's not meant to - and hasn't for
years. He got very angry with the cat for
doing that, but then Rose wee-ed when he was
changing her nappy and he didn't get angry
with her! So now they are giving their
neglected cat more attention and all should
return to normality. |

And
us? We are well, and happy, and living our
usual lives. After ten weeks of not a drop
of rain, last week we had a downpour of
75mm. We were very happy and the dry brown
grass is now going green again - and it's
raining again now. Hooray!
We returned from Tasmania with no more
trips away booked, but it didn't last long.
Autumn is here, the weather is getting
colder, so after reading an advertisement in
the paper we've booked a trip to Cape York
(the northernmost part of Australia) in
June. We will be warm while we're up there.
And we will go away north - but not so far
north - in the White House when we get back
from there. But - for the moment - nothing
overseas. |
